Tulum
Tulum beach
I am very much European oriented and most of my holidays have been taken in
Europe, so when my partner suggest to me a holiday in Mexico I was sceptical. I
had not heard much about Mexico apart for Chichen Itza and I read a little
about the Mayan civilisation but that was it. As you see I am not a very
adventurous person, that's why my lovely BF got me a package holiday.
I have to say that we had excellent time and package holidays have a huge
advantage for me, because I am such a lazy person. We flew to Cancun with
Thomson airlines and stayed in the Riviera Maya in
Grand Sirenis Resort and Spa.
The advantage of a package holiday is everything is taken care of. The
transfer, the food, the hotel, and what particularly worked for us was that we
could book trips to visit Chitzen Itza and Coba. I have to admit that the trips
were every well organised, we were supplied with plenty of refreshments and
provided with professional guides who gave us plenty of information about the
Mayan's and their culture.
One of our adventures was to explore the world outside our hotel. We took
trips to the nearby towns such as Playa del Carmen and Tulum. The travel was
very easy, we used local transport Collectivos which are small privately owned
minibuses. Information about Collectivos was available in our hotel. My
favourite was Tulum and its amazing beach. I could stay on that beach all
day.
After visiting Tulum we decided to be more adventurous and we took trip to
Cozumel on the ferry. The ferry are leaving from Playa del Carmen every
hour.
The other place near to our hotel was Akumal, a small beach-front village
where you can hire diving equipment and swim with turtles.
Mexico was brilliant it has tasty food, hot sunny weather and friendly
people. If you are deciding to go for holiday I can recommend Mexico.
